Expansion of Wireless Internet Access in Mauritania

As part of its strategy to expand and consolidate its subscriber base, Netcom has once again entrusted BTESA as the system integrator for the deployment of three new sites (Sabkha, El Velouga and Ain-Talh). The project uses base stations and antennas from Albentia Systems, ensuring high standards of performance and reliability.

Following the 5 stations deployed in 2022–23, this new project strengthens the existing infrastructure in strategic areas and extends service coverage to new communities, improving access to high-quality wireless connectivity.

Project Highlights

  • Tower deployment: Installation of three AXS-BS-850-N base stations (with GPS) per site, spaced ≥ 3 m apart to reduce interference, along with six ACC-A60S-D sector antennas (two per BS). With a 60° beamwidth each, they provide full 360° radial coverage.
  • Complete outdoor rack: Installation of a climate-controlled rack equipped with an air conditioning system and backup battery bank, ensuring service continuity during power outages.
  • Cabling and weather protection: Deployment of power supply and fiber optic cabling with the necessary accessories for weather protection, ensuring connection reliability.
  • Network configuration: Parameterization of the base stations and network equipment for integration into the central WispControl controller, establishing the appropriate internal routing protocols.
  • Coverage validation: Functional connectivity tests between CPEs and base stations, with log monitoring to confirm visibility and proper operation of the six deployed base stations.

With this implementation, BTESA strengthens its position as a benchmark in telecommunications projects, delivering comprehensive solutions that enhance the quality, resilience, and coverage of Netcom’s wireless network in Mauritania.
