In the spanish autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, the company Telecom CLM has led the first 5G pilot project in the region, co-financed through the 5G Technology Pilot Projects Program launched by RED.ES, with the aim of promoting the new 5G network in the community and showing all the possibilities that this technology can offer for all markets and purposes.
For broadcasting the TV content, a use case called “5G Contribution and Distribution of audiovisual content through eMBMS and FeMBMS” was carried out. For its implementation BTESA supplied a TDS series high efficiency UHF Transmitter, which was installed in the transmitter site of “Cerro Los Palos” (Toledo).
5G technology allows, thanks to the broadcast mode included in the 3GPP Release-16 standard, Broadcast and Multicast transmission to all terminals in a given area, including mobile reception. In other words, the same content can be received, using the minimum bandwidth, by an unlimited number of users, even on their cell phones.
For this analysis, a series of measures were developed for evaluating and determining the network performance in different real signal reception environments, both static reception on the buildings in an urban area and reception in mobility.
