Project Description

Project carried out for the Burkina Faso public TV operator (SBT) in 2017. This installation and commissioning was part of the ambitious DTT deployment project in the African country.

The uplink station represents the priority means of distribution to the transmission centers, complemented with the installation within the same project of a radio network by regions. This distribution uses Enensys’ OneBeam technology to combine DTH and distribution to stations with a single uplink, thus saving the operator’s costs considerably.

The project included the supply, installation, configuration, approval and commissioning of the complete transmission system including a motorized 6.5m Cassegrain antenna, a 1+1 dual amplification system with state-of-the-art amplifiers as well as a complete telecontrol system and system configuration.

BTESA’s experience as a telecommunications systems integrator allowed us to implement an optimal solution for the client with the following modules:

  • 6.5m Cassegrain antenna with an individual motorization system for each axis, for control, search and automatic satellites tracking.
  • Remote control system for the antenna that allows a pointing precision of 0.05º as well as an immediate change of satellite through predefined configurations.
  • High linearity SSPB amplification system with redundancy using second generation solid state amplifiers.

This installation posed a challenge to the work team since it was carried out in the national nodal center with the use of highly specialized work teams and the use of large tonnage cranes. The pointing, configuration and commissioning were also carried out by BTESA specialists and subsequently the entire system was approved by the satellite operator Eutelsat.
