Project Description
SERTV, the Public Radio and Television System of Panama, its effort to modernize and optimize its technological operations, has implemented an advanced monitoring system using the BRAVE NMS, in collaboration with BTESA and BTAME. This comprehensive project in Panama not only enhances the supervision of its transmission infrastructure but also unifies the monitoring of multiple key components under a single, agile, and efficient platform. This includes BTESA transmitters, which were already part of SERTV’s infrastructure.
The new system allows SERTV to monitor both the previously installed BTESA transmitters and the radio links distributed across the country, along with the ASI/IP gateways which facilitate the transmission of the signal from the radio links to the transmitters. As a result, SERTV now has a comprehensive and detailed view of the entire transmission network’s performance.
The project encompassed several strategic phases:
- Study and design of the monitoring system: a thorough analysis of the existing infrastructure and SERTV’s operational needs, which led to the design of a custom monitoring platform covering both BTESA transmitters, various radio links, and the necessary gateways for signal distribution.
- Supply and installation of the BRAVE NMS: integration of the monitoring software with SERTV’s equipment, enabling centralized and simplified management. This platform allows for agile control of all devices, enhancing the response capability to failures or critical events.
- Configuration and testing: detailed system adjustments to ensure proper data collection and visualization from each device. The system was configured to generate automatic alerts, periodic reports, and personalized dashboards, providing clear and timely access to key information.
- Training of technical staff: specialized training for SERTV’s technical team, ensuring effective and comprehensive use of the BRAVE NMS. This phase included the delivery of manuals, operational guides, and simulation exercises to ensure the staff can manage incidents proactively.
- System commissioning and validation: after implementation and configuration, exhaustive connectivity and performance tests were conducted across the entire transmission network, validating that all equipment was correctly monitored and that information was flowing smoothly between the equipment to be monitored and the BRAVE NMS.
This project has enabled SERTV to centralize the monitoring of its transmission network, resulting in more efficient resource management, quicker response times to incidents, and greater reliability in the operation of its national broadcasting services. Thanks to this unification, SERTV can now manage and supervise its entire technical infrastructure from a single platform, thereby optimizing its daily operations.
With this technological advancement, BTESA reaffirms its commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in the telecommunications sector, supporting SERTV in its mission to provide high-quality broadcasting services throughout Panama.
