On June 29th, BTESA, in collaboration with Sumavision and Vodafone, held a workshop where the state of 5G technology in Spain was analysed, different use cases of this technology were discussed, and the convergence between the telco world and the broadcast industry was further explored.
The implementation of 5G networks, combined with Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT), will benefit many sectors of society through different use cases (public safety and emergency services, healthcare, autonomous mobility solutions, healthcare technology development…).
The presentations made by BTESA stadd, as experts in RF systems and communications, and Sumavisión, manufacturer of broadcast equipment and solutions, were enriched by the presentations of guest speakers María Puebla (Vodafone, 5G pilots manager) and Raúl Iglesias (5G consultant, innovation and strategy), who, from different points of view, explained the various types and the status of 5G private networks. An example of a private 5GSA network is the one implemented by Vodafone and BTESA in the Alava Technology Park.
The presentations were followed by demonstrations in which different use cases of Sumavisión’s video contribution were presented, signal broadcasting through 5G was performed, and BTESA’s capabilities for drive-testing, analysis and presentation of wireless network measurements were shown.
But undoubtedly, the real success of the day was reflected by the quantity and quality of the attendees; operators of audiovisual signal broadcasting carrier networks and infrastructure managers, telecommunications operators, manufacturers, broadcast sector agents…thank you all for your interest and attendance.
