Project Description
ISDB-Tb Digital TV Network in Costa Rica
This project, fully executed during the COVID-19 pandemic, consisted of providing SINART with Digital TV transmission capacity in their main sites as Volcan Irazú (San José), Cerro Adams (Golfito-Puntarenas), Cerro Buenavista – known as Cerro de la muerte- (San José, Pérez Zeledón, Páramo) and Cerro Santa Elena (Monteverde-Puntarenas).
The execution of this project included the supply, installation and configuration in SINART’s central studios of the ISDB-Tb headend (including the coding system, multiplexing and the Auxiliary Services Server), the high-efficiency 2.5 kW digital transmitters, the antenna systems, as well as all the connection, protection and infrastructure elements that allowed the installation, integration and configuration of all the equipment in the sites without affecting the existing transmissions.
The “turn-key” nature of this project, all details had to be taken into account by our engineering department, whether they were of a technical nature (study of coverage, design of radiant systems, dimensioning of electrical protections, management and remote operation of the network …), accommodation (plant distribution, connections from / to outside, equipment cooling …), logistics, or any other nature.
Despite all the difficulties that occurred, most of them derived from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, and even with very adverse weather conditions, the following services were performed by BTESA together with its local partner;
- Engineering and project management
- Dispatch of equipment up to all the remote locations
- Training both in factory and on-site
- Installation, commissioning and final acceptance tests.
With the execution of this project, SINART reaches a coverage over 80% of the national territory.
